Go Red For Women

February is American Heart Month.

In the past, heart disease and heart attack have been predominantly associated with men. Heart disease & stroke have been the number one killer of women as well. The American Heart Association, therefore, created Go Red For Women, on the first Friday of February.

It is to raise awareness of women’s risks of heart disease which is equal to that of men. Women need to be aware of their own risk for heart disease and heart attack. (Please read my earlier post from November 13, 2017).

Go Red For Women encourages women to talk to their healthcare provider and get to know their personal health numbers including blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and body mass index (BMI).

These are the most important numbers because your heart depends on them.
